I'll answer something different to above who pretty well explains exactly where the brand Craftsman tools are made.

If your asking in general where general crafts mens tools are made then a lot originate from Germany,England (Sheffield), and USA of course, than again I think that is not what you were after,OK forgive me I'm having a **Blonde** moment LOL.♥

In the factories of the lowest bidder, with no regard to the quality that they used to be reknowned for. The Craftsman brand tools that I got from my Grandfather are excellent tools, The ones I bought 6 years ago are terrible, they are not even worth driving back to sears for replacements. I would reccomend to anyone and everyone that they stop buying any tool labeled Craftsman since the brand has gone so far downhill.

Until 1994 or so, Stanley also made Sears Craftsman tools. Sears Craftsman is now made by Danaher Tools. They beat out Stanley on the contract over price. Danaher also manufactures MatCo Tools, the third largest player in the Mobile Automotive industry (behind MAC and Snap-On). Odds are, if you own any Craftsman tools that are older than about five years ago, they were made by Stanley in plants in Dallas, Texas, Witchita Falls, Texas, and Sabina, Ohio.

There was a lawsuit brought against Craftsman in 2004 that alleged that the tools, which were labeled "Made in USA" were actually made in places such as Austria, Denmark, China, India and Mexico. Then, in 2005, the "Made in USA" on Craftsman Tools was blacked out. As far as I can understand the legal decision, it seems like as of May 2006, this issue was still mired in complicated legal machinations. But it seems safe to say that, while they might be assembled in the US, the components are not made here.

If your talking about the brand Craftsman, call a Sears store and ask them. They're the only ones who sell them.
