I watched a documentary about fast food places and the guy said that some of our best childhood memories are at fast food restaurants like McDonalds. Do you have any?
I don't. :-(

As a kid the only time I liked waking up early before school was because our mom would occasionally take us out to breakfast at McDonalds. We would get the Hot Cakes and the Big Breakfast. It was worth waking up for compared to cold cereal, and it was a BIG deal when she would take us!

Not me.

Regular restaurants, diners, roadside clamshacks, ice cream stands, things like that, but not fast food.

If McD's or whatever is memorable, I feel sort of sorry they didn't experience something else. I mean, all things are fun when they're new, special, or associated with a rare treat or special person, but somehow it's hard for me to think of DQ, KFC, BK or whatever as particularly special.

OK, wait, I remember one, but it was at a small local chain, and the only reason I remember it was because it was the first prepared meal I bought with money I earned from a part-time job - I got a cheeseburger and a chocolate shake, and it was pretty good.

I don't either, but instead of a :-( like you,
I am totally :-) about it.

My parents didn't take us out to east at fast food places and even though I hated it back then, I am so very glad about it now. I think my body is, too.

Fast food is nasty. We did have the occassional "drive thru" plain cone from Dairy Queen though. That was always great.

Oh, yeah.......

Many, many years ago in Kelowna, Canada there was a fish and chip place on the north edge of town, just off the highway. I don't remember the name, it wasn't a chain or anything, just fish and chips and burgers.

In the good weather they had tables on the roof and they would send up your numbered order in a "dumb-waiter." When we were kids, my sister and I loved that place. The food was great, but the stuff you ordered coming up to the roof in the "dumb-waiter" that was the coolest thing on Earth...........

In OH, where I grew up, there was a fast-food place call BBF. Kinda like a precursor to Frisch's Big Boy...kinda like McDonald's. (OK I'm dating myself...gimme a break). Anyway, my grandma hennacy would always take us there when we visited her...I still can smell the burgers and remember getting chocolate milkshakes that our MOTHER would not let us have...only with grandma....sheer joy. I miss Ginny Mae. Thanks for helping me think of that again!

I rode the flying hamburger at McDonalds when I was a kid. I had my picture in my hometown newspaper with Ronald and everything.

Ahh... the 70's. Such an innocent time!

When I was in grade school and middle school, my dad used to take me to Wendy's for a Frosty and fries after each of my softball games. It was a great time for the two of us.
