We have several nice items to sell such as an antique dining table and a handcrafted drafting table. With it being so near Christmas we are not sure when would be the best time to sell furniture. We will run an ad in the paper listing specific items to help draw people out but I wonder if its better to wait until Spring for this sort of thing. (Though we live in the South and its quite warm for winter)

Thanks!

Do it now! never know what people will need for Christmas or ???. They get lots of time off at this time of year to spent it wondering yard sales. Why wait till spring do it now.

Sell them on E bay any time of year, you can ask for big items to be collected only, make sure you catagorise them properly and give a detailed description. There is a facility for you to place a reserve price /buy it now (at your asking price) or you can register a starting bid price and hope there are enough interested bidders to get you a reasonable price for your items .If you have also included a reserve (then the item wont be won unless the bidding has reached that price or above). This way you are also attracting people from further afield who may be interested in antique/handcrafted furniture

In Cali the yard sales have totally dried up due to the cold and rain. Spring and summer are the great times. Even fall isn't that good even though the weather's nice.

Could you take pictures of your items and post them on craigslist? I bet that would also net you more money than haggling at a yard sale. I've sold several things on craigslist, it really does work, and people will come pick it up if you specify it!

If these pieces are as nice as you say, exposing them to sun and weather isn't advisable. Advertize in the paper, and spread the word at your places of business, etc. and then just wait it out. The ad in the paper should be enough. Otherwise, if you are determined to displaying the pieces outdoors, consider a rental tent, or buying an inexpensive awning to shade and protect the pieces. Summer and late spring are always good times to sell things. Good luck.

I live in the north so I think that spring time is best. I would recommend for you to go with whatever season is most active with yard sales. Good Luck.

Spring. That's when the yard sale season starts here (KY) and lots of people show up. Some can't wait for winter to end so they can start going.

i would say the summer time, when most people are on vacation and have nothing to do, and go out on saturdays to look for furniture.
