This is becoming a stressful problem. We've been dating for a while, and he's an uncommon boyfriend, so typical present suggestions don't interest him like sports things, or video games. I want it to be a present that means something, and is fairly original. Help? What would you get a very smart guy for Christmas?

PS. Already done the book idea... it's out... :(

A personalized coffee mug? I dunno. For his late night studying? Or a caffeine care package?

Is he sentimental? Give him something meaningful that reminds you of your first date or an inside joke the two of you have. Make him a scrapbook with photos of the two of you. Get him a nice watch. Make him a cd and design the liner notes. A nice sweater, maybe? Magazine subscriptions, if the book idea is out? Or knit him a scarf, maybe. This is a hard question... good luck :)

A gun loaded with a single bullet. Slam it on the table in front of him the night before Christman, push it toward him and say "Perhaps you would like to avoid the red tape." Then just walk away.
