I'm an I.T. guy, and I have an idea of starting up an online business. I know tons of stuff in different areas in I.T. (Email, network, security, database and etc) but except web. I know nothing about it. If I'm going to hire someone to do the web stuff for me, I'm afraid he/she will steal my idea. What should I do?

Hi,

In response to your question . . .

You have two choices!

1. Develop a non-disclosure agreement (contract) between you and the other partry. It will protect you and your trade secrets. This gives you the legal right to sue, if the person decides to use your information, material, developments, concepts, records, open a business to compete against you. etc. without your permission. You can go to the library or searcy over the Interent for business contracts.

2. The best thing to do is start learning the web, marketing, advertising, Google, Yahoo, Ebay, all other search engines, and the list goes on. These are extremely important areas which could cripple your business and developments, if a person leaves you hanging. I advise you to start learning on your own. Know alittle about everything and don't trust so deeply. Not even your wife. This is business and when someone want to get back at you it could wipe you out. There are alot of free ebooks for newbies striving to become Internet Marketers or simple learn search engines. So start searching the web for Internet Marketers and join there newsletters. That's usally how you will get free info. and ebooks about search engine, SEOs, building web pages, and a whole lot more.

Whatever you do you should consider another money making opportunity that's that's pretty much turn-key, make some money, until your business is off the ground making a profit. Learn from it. The name of the game or I should business is to have MultiStreams of income coming in. Just in case one income sources stops making you money.

Your major problems concern also should be marketing If you don't know how to target your customer-base and know your niche, you are destine to fail..

Here's food for thought!

It isn't about you or your product/service that people want. Its about the benefits that people receive, they want their problems resolved, to feel better, to be helped in some way with a bargain included. If you don't understand this message, you will surely fail. If you do not study your competitors and know there strengths and weaknesses, including what customer are not getting, then you are also destine to fail and without warning.

You can build your own website. The Design Dashboard is an EaSy Point and Click System that anyone can build a website to sell products and services. I highly suggest you buy now and start learning. It good for newbies like yourself and intermediates. The company I will direct you also has the Marketing Dashboard, Point and Click System. I suggust you buy it.

I will give you a turn-key website.. Its eBay Niche Super Store with over 25 MILLION products to sell. So on that note I'll leave with this . . .

Know your weaknesses and make them your strengths. When it comes down to business trust no one but yourself.

Take Care and Good Luck!!!

Am in a similar dilemma. I guess you just have to trust the person who would do your web - maybe offer a partnership so he/she will be greatly rewarded if the project becomes successful. Then hopefully, your skill and his/her expertise would create an integrated force that can suppress any potential deception.

Make them sign a non-compete contract when they come aboard. Check with your local state laws to make sure those are legal in your state. They are here!
