Some of singing can be taught and learned. But a lot of it is genetically and what you are born with.

Oh man, I can't sing, but I'd looooove to. I kinda believe that a person could become a singer if they took vocal lessons...my sister for most of her life couldn't even sing "Mary had a little Lamb" to the right tune, and after a summer's worth of vocal lessons, she can now sing really well. Guess everything requires training and hard work in order to succeed.

Have you ever seen the movie "Ishtar?" I suppose the best answer is that if someone who has no talent for singing wants to be a singer, that person should take voice lessons from a qualified teacher. Learning to sing well and/or correctly is not that difficult.

it does not matter if u donot know how to sing but the matter of fact is that u must sing by ur heart with ur full expression even though if u don't know all the cords, how to play the instrument but if the audience can understand ur feelings then u are more good than a famous singer......

Haha....um, yea. Listen to the singer for Evanesence. She's horrible live. They just digitize her voice and fix pitches. They do that for every artist. So many of them are horribly tone def, but there's something about their voice that sounds good when it's fixed.
