this is aside from some of the charitable contribution that they give to ease their tax burden, make the 3% available by giving the poor and disadvantage of this country more on education social needs, and of course job generating causes, pls.do not just give this as some sort of welfare but as something thats available to the poor and disadvantage that will help them uplift themselves and help them in the long term, not in short terms only.

The problem is that this is a free country, and taxing the ritch is unfair. That's punishing Americans for acheiving the American Dream.

Did you know that presently (adjusted for inflation), the average American pays many times more taxes than the colonists who revolted against England ever paid? Our taxes are already opressive, and they're part of the reason so many people are poor!

Did you know that big corporations like the oil companies and microsoft already give more to charities than anybody else in the country, and probably the world? In fact, the voluntary generosity of Americans is saving and improving lives all over the world. Remember that big Tsunami in south asia a few years ago? Our tax dollars helped there. Remember Katrina? While poorly managed, our tax dollars are STILL at work there. Taxes support all sorts of social programs already.

Did you know that few other countries in the world hand out free educations the way we do? But how many Americans blow their education down their legs like yesterday's spoiled egg salad, then demand help when they realize they can't get a good job and can't get accepted in a university?

We already have all the resources at hand to solve the problem of poverty and hunger, worldwide. The problem will not be solved with more money. If you DOUBLED our national revenue through taxes, we MIGHT see a 10% increase in productivity. That's because 90% is being wasted and stolen.

The only solution is to fight the corruption of those elected officials who are either stealing the money, or are stupidly giving it away to every scam artist on the planet with no means to track those funds, or consequences to punish abusers.

Poverty comes from many sources. Those that don't have enough education to qualify for a decent job, laziness, and a feeeling of "Why should I work mentality?" Imagine a 2 parent household with 3 kids, a house, a car, and they receive food stamps and medical care while earning 70,000 a year. How is this possible? They are not married. Do you know how big their tax refund is every year? $5000. Are some people that take advantage of this taking advantage of weakness in the laws? Yes. If they got married it all goes away. So why would you? Why should my money or anyone's money be given to a general fund to be easily abused...no thanks.

Oh, I'm so SCARED of GEORGE SOROS, a man who used his own money to bring down 3 communist dictatorships behind the Iron Curtain. And I HAVE NO DOUBT that the Brazilian government is run by GEORGE SOROS, right? I mean, they only set up that tax status IN ORDER FOR GEORGE SOROS to make money, didn't they? As opposed to the UNITED STATES GOVERNMENT who for years has collected exactly ZERO from the oil companies! EVERYONE KNOWS that all companies should be allowed to operate completely TAX-FREE, right? And I'll bet that you are one of the ones who accuses LIBERALS of hating the RICH. Apparently, it's only the rich you don't know about that you approve of. Try turning off GLENN BECK for a while!

There's no way around it, welfare is a crutch. Only a determination to succeed will get you out of poverty.

There's another reason too. Legislation for such a bill would never pass. People all over this country work for oil companies and I am willing to bet they are well represented in both the House and the Senate. A bill that reduces profits of large oil companies would not go over well with the representative's constituents.

Why?
It is share holders money and they are in the market to make profit.
Ask government to pay my part of 3% to poor. They have taken more than should have from me as tax.
PS: This is applicable for most of the countries in the world.

Because the rich are not interested in helping poor people.

They will donate a few dollars around christmas time so they can write it off their taxes the following year.

Why don't YOU give 3% of your extra cash to the poor? If we all did that, we would need any oil companies' profit money.
