First off,do you have a good relationship with your Dr?
I use to be scared to really talk to my Dr when I was younger but I was able to overcome that once I got into the medical profession and got to know some of the Dr's better.
Sometimes you need to tell the nurse that you really need to talk to your Dr about your ailments.
Explain to the nurse that you have these feelings and if she is doing her job right then she will tell the Dr who in turn should follow up.
Because of the cuts that insurances/medicare/medicaid make in the payments to Dr's,they are forced to have to see more patients in a day's time to help cover expenses of maintaining the office and their liabillity insurance so though it is NOT right,Dr's are forced to cut the amount of time they spend with patients just as a matter of economics.
Now having worked in Dr's offices I can tell you that there are some patients that come through the doors with every little piddly thing. . not really a hypocondriac but more like cry babies who call and schedule a short appointment that turns into an hour long visit which makes the Dr late for the other appt's and then they have to make up the time.
When you call the next time for an appointment let the receptionist know that you need to visit at length with your Dr and they can make an appointment that will allow the Dr time for it and make sure that you aren't just one of those "cry babies" or the Dr may tell you that you things you may not be prepared to hear.

My first suggestion is to find a new Dr. You have to remember that they work for you and so if you are not happy go to another. However, working with them I do have some advice if you do not want to go somewhere else. First, dr.'s are overworked these days, they have been given less and less time to see patients by the administrators who run their clinic. yes, it is true that dr's do not choose how much time they can spend with you. So go preprared. Write down all the questions you have for her and ask them. Second, know that if you have requested pain meds you are a red flag to anyone in the healthcare field. People that come in with "pain" and want meds usually tell us that they are just after the meds and we try to get rid of them as quickly as possible. It isn't our fault, you should see how many people a day come and abuse the system. Third, keep a journal of the pain intensity and symptoms and show it to the dr. This helps because it shows a pattern and points to the problem. Fourth, do not be intimidated by a physician, if they are truely being rude, call them on it. They are not the Gods they would like you to think they are and they do not deserve to treat people badly.

As a patient, you need to be comfortable talking to your doctor. If you aren't comfortable or if you are unable to talk to your doctor for ANY reason, you should consider changing doctors. It could be that she doesn't think there is anything serious wrong with you, but she should let you tell her everything you want to tell her and she should also explain to you what she thinks is happening. It doesn't sound like that happened. You can try talking to her again or if you don't want to do that, go see someone else.

You have to remember that you are paying your doctor, not the other way around. So if she is not listening then find another doctor who will. You should always have a doctor who is willing to listen to your ailments and help you and not interject their personal opinions.
I had a doctor like that once and I dropped her real fast when she always wanted to tell me what was wrong instead of listening to me tell her what is wrong. I found a doctor who is very compassionate and caring and would listen more than he would talk.

Your the one paying the medical bills (or maybe your parents) but you should stop going to her. You don't want a lazy doctor when you could have a great doctor that listens to you. I say just find another doctor.

If she doesn't seem to listen, its probably because she is rushed, or you stammer. write down what you want to ask her, then you won't forget, and she will see you are indeed serious. Many doctors prefer this method, since they know the person is serious about their health. Make a list, and after reading them off, hand it to her. That way, she can be sure to answer ALL your questions.
