Unfortunately there is no way in telling when labor will start. The plug could grow back. My dr stripped my membranes with my second child and I lost my plug immediately after the appt. Luckily for me, I went into labor and she was born less than 30 hours later.

If your baby is ready and your cervix has started to dilate, then you may just get lucky and go into labor.

Good luck and Merry Christmas!

Loosing a plug can mean only a few things. 1) that you are dilating and 2) labor will start in it's own time. I lost mine 2wks ago have been contracting but they are Braxton Hicks. Also you said that yours are not, if they are true labor contractions they **will not stop** at all, Braxton Hicks do. True labor contractions progress (get stronger and last longer and get shorter rest periods.) Also all contractions will help you dilate and efface whether it's one or the other. Contractions are there for a reason to help labor the baby out!! Regarding your hips, mine are to the point that I can barely walk, but Dr does say that it's the baby settling in position that pushes and pulls on muscles. For me this is very uncomfortable! Tylenol helps alittle, helps to take off the edge at least, not much else can be done though. My other suggestion is: Don't just go up to Labor/Delivery to have them check you, it's a waste of your time and money as well as theirs. When you go into labor you will know it. Contx. 3-5 or less apart and last 45-60 seconds each time and you can't speak through them. Yes, call Dr in AM stress to them how you feel. Most doctors also have others in practice w/ them, try another if yours wont help. Lots of info , sorry but hang in there! Your almost there!! I'm due in 3wks can't wait.

Could be hours, days, weeks, or even a month. Every woman is different. Some women don't lose their plug till they actually go into labor. Just like some women go to the doc for an internal exam only to be told they haven't dilated a bit but go into labor that night...just depends. Every pregnancy is different.

If you've lost your plug recently, I'd say get ready...it shouldn't be too far away. Congrats and good luck!

Depends on the person and the individual pregnancy. For myself, it was 17 1/2 hours. My mother gave birth about 2 hours after the mucus plug came out for both my sister and I.

Passing a mucus plug is a sign that your cervix is dilating and your body is starting to prepare for birth. Labor could be hours, days, or even weeks away as the cervix gradually opens over time.

Usually anywhere from a few days to a week or so, depending on how close you are to your due date and if you're having any off/on contractions. The loss of the mucous plug is a sign that some early cervical dilation has occurred, enough that the mucous plug has been released with the opening of the cervix.

with my first child i gave birth five days after losing my mucus plug...
then with my second child i lost my mucus plug after a minor car collision with a snow bank, and even experienced minor cervis thinning. but it was too early and when the contractions came two days later they were stopped with a shot of some strong medication. after that, the plug actually replenished itself, as the doctor said it was capable of doing if the baby was meant to be born by the due date. after all this occured, i went another two months. so i guess it depends on the woman and her situation, and when the baby is ready to come out!
