Let me tell you that it's not true.
Since 2005 shaving armpits became compulsory. Nevertheless, shaving legs is still optional. A law should be passed next year about brushing teeth.

I am a European Caucasian. I was born in d.c and than moved home to Spain. Then we returned to America. So I guess I am Americanized so I can answer the question. We see in the movies that french women don't shave or shower. I know it's not true, and the movies make up all the crap, so I wouldn't take it to heart. " All the Americans eat fast fatty foods" That's what you hear, and it's not all true, it's a stereotype. Don't worry about it, I'm part Italian and people think that I'm suppose to have dark hair and bushy eyebrows. I don't, I have blond hair and blue/green eyes. Stereotypes suck

I always thought French women didn't shave.
You have to understand that most American women keep their bodies shaved. Most of the women I know shave every day or every other day.
I don't know anyone who doesn't brush their teeth twice a day!!

Sorry but french women and not shaving their arm pits or legs has been an on going joke in my family..
that's good that ya'll have to share in our agony of shaving everyday.. curse the culture

Women have done both those things since the 90's.
But aside from the ranting... all europian girls are viewed as "hairy-armpitted". That's just the mentality in North America. Don't take it personally, they just don't know better. Ask them next time to take a look at their fat wives' armpits before judging you.
