Get a cat.

Seriously... my cat consistently out kills the traps!

(The LARGE glue traps work good too... just make sure the cat doesn't get in them!)

Use glue strips, and I would try the peppermint oil idea - we may need to try that one ourselves. You could consider an exterminator, depending on what it costs in your area. With the poisons that you can buy at a department store, I have heard that mice have built up an immunity to them because they have been around so long, and now the most effective poisons are only available through an extermination company.

Make your mouse traps more sensitive so that they spring easier - careful of your own fingers!! Put the traps in places so that the mouse will have to actually run across the trap even if it does not try to get the peanut butter from the trap. (We lean things against the wall, leaving just enough space to set the trap behind them.)

Good luck! They are persistent little critters and this is the season for them. Our problem isn't bad enough to consider a cat yet, but it is a thought.

Have you tried peanut butter on the traps? I went through the same thing and the mice kept getting the peanut butter without setting off the traps so I got smart about the location of the peanut butter on the trap and I got the little devils...all 3 of them. I also used the poison, can't believe they survived that. I would try the D-Con kind unless you already have that...

Go to the store and buy some of those glue strip traps. They have real sticky stuff on them and when the mice walk on them they stick to them. It's kinda cruel in a way but if that's the only way that you can get them then you'll have to use them. They do work very well. Once the mice are stuck to the glue they can't escape.

Buy some peppermint oil at the pharmacy (you have to ask the pharmacist for it). It is about $20 for a small bottle, but it works. Place cotton balls with the peppermint oil near where the mice are and they will get out. Don't use peppermint extract or non-pure oil. It works...try it.

Mice dont like peppermint oil - I work in a massage school of all places, where we sell it for muscle aches - and people swear by the stuff to get rid of mice.
