My Canadien friend came back from Europe and he had two apples with him and didnt declare them because he FORGOT all about them. he had to pay $400 for faulsely declaring. and suppose he didnt forget, alot of people think that they only have to declare somthing of large quantity. Its not like he is going to re-plant the appels or somthing. I mean just take them away...why a $400 fine?

What do you think of the system they use? Is it too abusive.

Sorry, but this doesn't sound right, unless the apples were inadmissable because of grade or disease and they were hidden in the luggage. Lots of people bring things in to different countries not knowing they were not allowed, plants, fruits, etc, but usually they are just seized and destroyed. Apples being imported from places other than the United States must meet the requirements of one of the following grades: Canada Extra Fancy, Canada Fancy and Canada Commercial.

To put the idea in peoples minds that they had better declare EVERYTHING. The world is getting smaller. Threats travel faster.

The reason why plant materials are not alllowed to be transported is to prevent the spread of diseases that have the potential to devastate crops here.

that's no longer lots as holding that he had apples. that's the incontrovertible fact that he's not allowed to deliver into the country farm products. He could desire to've accomplished what I did, stashed it between the seats.
