Usually your first visit to the dr is to retrieve past medical conditions having your blood drawn past family history of both parents if known usually after the first visit around 10 weeks they will do a vaginal ultrasound and pap smear if you have not had one you will be given prenatal vitamins urine tested every visit including your vital signs you will be weighed and charted everytime you go you will have your finger pricked the doctor will listen to the baby's heartbeat you will have another ultrasound between 16 and 24 weeks at which time most doctors will tell you the sex if you want to know you will be offered a blood test to check for chances of down syndrome and other common birth abnormalities you dont have to take it if you don't want to if you are Rh neg and your spouse if Rh pos then you will be given an injection of Rogram to help fight antibodies. its not so bad have fun you will get to know your dr very well

the doctor will monitor the heart rate, check you cervix, give you papsmears, get you on vitamens, measure your stomach, check you for diabetes, check your iron, and get you on a healthy diet to gain wait healthily,.

getting good nutrition, drinking lots of fluids, staying calm, getting moderate exercise and read a lot about birthing/parenting.
