ok, this is actually not that hard. The parenthesis are not necesary so drop them, then add like terms and get:
x^2 -x +x +17 - 9 =
x^2 + 8

(x-9) + (x² - x + 17) =
x - 9 + x² - x + 17 =
x² + 8

First combines like terms
x-x=0; 17-9=8;

x^2+8
