well you put a 1 under the whole number for example if the problem was 3 times 3/4 you woud make it 3/1 because 3/1 is the same as saying 1 dived into 3 which is 3

Multiplying fractions:
first make both numbers into a fraction form - one number over another number:
example 5 1/4 = 21/4
or
example 5=5/1

then multiply top x top and bottom x bottom

example

6 1/5 x 4

6 1/5 = 31/5
4= 4/1

31x4 = 124 (top x top)
5x1=5 (bottom x bottom)

answer is 124/5 (then simplify)
divide denominator into numerator

24 1/5 (correct answer)

(always do it one way it will make it easier in the long run - take one approach and run with it - good luck)

Put the 5 over 1, like this: 5/1. Then put a multiplication sign between it and 1/4. The multiply 5 times 1 to get 5, then do 1 times 4 on the bottom. then put the 5 over the 4 after the equals sign. Your answer is 5/4.

Im in 6th grade, too. But Im in 7th grade math, so I can help. Anyway, say you were doing:
4 times 9
-----
11
well, you'd turn the 4 into 4 and just multiply across.
----
1

4 times 9 36
--- ---- = ----------- simplified to 3 and 3 -11ths
1 11 11
