I let it out the door. My family believes killing spiders is bad luck. Beside, the spider never did anything to you other then wander into your house.

let it go. If you read the one about the roach, you'll understand. Today, I held a spider for company because I was so lonely during lunch. They've been amazing friends for me at school. I love spiders! I love to hold them....it's amazing...

I have a soft spot for them. I find a drinking glass, cover them with it, slide a piece of cardboard underneath and tote them outside. I really don't have it in me to kill them.
Mosquitos, on the other hand, are free game.

Outdoors, just leave it alone. Indoors, let it out or smash it depending on what kind----Brown recluse gets smashed.

usually out of fear and a reaction i smash it unless its too big than i find something to get it with.

Depends on where it is and what kind it is.
The whitish ones make my friend's kids break out in hives from their bite, so they get to die.
The Brown Recluses - die
The Black Widows - die
The rule in my house ithat it is is, indeed, my house. And if the bugs are stupid enough to show themselves, then they can die.
