The best Japanese love song for me is a song entitled "The Day". It was performed by a Korean singer named K(Kei).
There are very many good English love songs, like Making love out of nothing at all, Unchained Melody, My Heart will go on, etc.

My fav is 'Roulette' by system of a down, (yes its true, System of a down made a love song), but I can think of a couple others. How about surrender by Billy Talent, or 'Comin Home' by city and colour? You have to listen to 'On the mend' by the foo fighters. Those are the best balads I know of....

"Hands Down" and "As Lovers Go" by Dashboard Confessional are really, really beautiful in my opinion. Then you have Mandy Moore's "It's Gonna be Love", which is also precious.

If you're going for an "unrequited love" song, try "Obvious" by Westlife. :)
