I read another anwser saying that I should go to the tools tab and click "protect document" so stop protecting it, by my computer won't let me choose "pretect document" as an action. HELP?!?

You might not have full access to microsoft word. I know when the trial versions end, it will let you open a file but won't let you do anything with it. Try deleting your microsoft word, and googling microsoft word trial, and download the trial version

Once you open the document with Word (for which you'll have to enter the password, of course), select Tools/Options from the menu, then click on the "Save" tab. Clear the contents of the fields "Password to modify" and "Password to open", click "OK" to close the dialog, and save the document. It will be no longer protected.

If you don't know the password that the document is protected with, you won't be able to open it in the first place, of course. Then you'll have to crack the password - but that's a different subject.
