I'm serious. A friend asked me and I didn't know the answer. If, on an evolutionary scale, a man's testicles are the most important organ in his body, then why are they not protected within it? They may not be important to an individual life, but they are essential to the continuation of the species.

Thanks for all the answers so far. Now I'm wondering WHY sperm needs to be at a lower temperature...(you don't have to answer that).

they need to stay colder to protect the sperm. if the body temp of the testicles is too high the sperm will die. if testicles get too cold like in cold water for example they will shrink to stay warm so the sperm will not get too cold

To keep them at a slightly cooler temperature. If they are too warm they won't produce sperm needed for reproduction. This is why some men who have trouble fathering children are told to change from briefs(tighty whiteys) to boxers, so that the testicles will dangle freely instead of being held snugly against the body.

So the sperm can live because the human body temperature is too hot and it will kill the sperm. Haven't you ever wondered why they "shrink" when cold? They are trying to get closer to the body to warm up so the sperm aren't killed off or damaged. And then they hang low when it's hot out.

It's to regulate temperature. If they were within the body, it'd be too hot for proper sperm production. And, if you notice when a guy gets into cold water, the testes are drawn closer to the body. It's to keep them from getting too cold. They have to be at just the right temperature for proper function.

Testicles are factory for producing sperm. This factory cannot function to human body temperature that is 37 degrees celcius.
So that why the testicles are outside the human body, to make cool.

> why did not the testes purely proceed to be undescended and why does not spermatogenesis purely shop on at center physique temperature? that's a real extraordinary mammalian oddity (birds don't have this concern). In quadrupeds that is not too lots of a concern -- the placement of the scrotum remains incredibly risk-free. In primates, however, sexual determination has maintained the placement of the scrotum. Primates "moon" opponents to intimidate them.

They are actually there because semen needs to be kept at a slightly cooler temperature than the rest of your body. That is also the reason for the scrotum, heat disapation.

So you can put a man in his place by kicking him there...LOL. To regulate temperature so he produces the right amount. It adjusts itself too (moves closer away from the body aka needs more or less heat).

the sperm needs to be cooler then the rest of your body. if you noticed, they probably move closers to your body if you are cold and hang low if youre hot.

simply because sperm need to survive to procreate, sperm cells cant survive on extensive heat or like body temp so it is placed outside, see the wonders of GOD!! he really knows where to put every single part of the body..
