How about a desk organizer? Save several 6 oz. tuna cans and spray them inside and out with a color like gold or silver. Have the child measure and cut lengths of decorative braid or woven ribbon trim that is about the same width as the can is tall. Glue some around each can, then glue the cans together in a row and then glue the group to a base like a painted piece of wood. The cans can hold paper clips, tacks, rubberbands, etc.

Well it all depends on the age and how well the child can work with their hands. If you look at differant craft shops they do have alot of foam projects that a child can put together. I use them for some of my patients that cannot use there hands to well and also those who are not very cognative. Most of the foamy crafts are just glueing pieces together. Or get 2 pieces of a good size felt. I use Christmas colors. Cut strips on the edges of the felt matching both pieces. Easiest way is to cut with the pieces together. After you have cut the strips on every side start tying the 2 pieces of felt together with the strips Leave one side open and stuff with a fiber stuffing. I use the stuffing that is used in stuffed animals. Stuff it enough to make a fluffy pillow. Then take some sticky foamies(the ones that are peel and stick) and have the child decorate it as they choose. Be sure that you stuff it enough and tie at the top before decorating. The foamies have a tendancy to pop off if you don't stuff it first. Good luck and have fun with whatever you choose to do. I forgot to tell you to tie the strips in a knot so that it doesn't come apart.

You can buy the air drying clay (no need for baking), roll it out flat with a rolling pin, and get the children to cut out shapes with cookie cutters. For christmas, use christmas themed cookie cutters (tree, star, santa, candy cane), before they dry, cut a whole out up top, and when dry, paint them, thread them with some pretty string, and they can hang them up on the christmas tree as decorations. Have fun, and the best thing, it isnt that messy (unless you spill the paint!!! )
