Don't be pushy!!! Communicate with your customers as a person not as a salesman. Help them rather than trying to get the best commision, people don't want to buy things they don't need so by selling them what's best for them you will gain respect. Know what you're selling, be friendly, and don't be fake, don't lie, and don't act like a typical salesman! Being a good salesman is not all about the money, if you look at it as if it is, your customers won't return. Your best customer is a loyal customer. I can't even count how many car salesmen I have walked out on, and I drove, no joke, 600 miles to purchase a car from a dealer who treated me like an equal.

You have to have passion about what your selling. When everyone is working 8 hours you need to work 10. Stay consistent, and have excellent customer service skills. And know your product in and out and your competitions. If your someone who get's along with everyone and can carry a conversation you'll do great. The hardest thing to do is to stay organized. There is no 1 method. Find what works for you. Good luck. Sales is big money. I know guy's who make six figures selling new cars for Lexus, Copiers, and Medical sales. It may take 3-5 years, but where else can you make that much money that fast.

1. Use the 5-pt. sales plan: Develop rapport, show a need, show the product, discuss price, ask for the sale.
2. Have a power hour every morning. Read inspirational literature, visualize yourself being the number one sales rep, say your affirmations aloud.
3. Surround yourself with positive people.
4. Learn interpersonal communication skills to a tee. (e.g. you can say anything, even insult someone's dog, if you have a smile on your face, and it's wonderful)

All of the answers have some good points but the truth be known, you have to want it. The rest will take care of itself. Work each day toward the end goal.
