Whatever you do, don't put spinners on it. They are way overrated. Try really pimp rims and blue neons, euro lights and if your really want your car to look hot, get someone hot to drive it. HAHAHA!

Alright, first, don't rice out your car by putting on graphics, bee can exhaust and spinners or anything of the sort.

the 2nd gen eclipses are nice cars, and can be spectacular if done right.

mileage shouldn't matter if it was done right. first, I would ensure that the paint is in good condition, if not, get it repainted. next step is to get a nice set of rims, depending on the theme you're going for, I would say 17" or 18" would be suitable, along with some decent tires. After that, get rid of that wheel gap by getting a decent set of lowering springs, or if money is not a problem, a set of coilovers.

I would then grab a catback exhaust to get rid of the stock exhaust and add a bit of "sound" to it, i'm sure you'll enjoy that. BUT! PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE do not put an eBay muffler on there with a hack job, make sure it is done right. If you're windows aren't tinted, I would go ahead and do those according to your state regulations to tinting.

From there, still focusing on the exterior, upgrade to a nice set of projector headlights. oh, and STAY AWAY FROM ALTEZZAs!!! you know, those trashy looking tail-lights.

OK, so you have a decent start with the outside, something simple that will catch an eye of passer-by's. Now what about the interior!??!?! definitely make sure you keep it clean, a nice looking exterior is completely ruined by a dirty interior. no question about that. Depending on what you want sound wise, get an aftermarket HeadUnit (CD PLAYER) and replace the stock speakers. By replacing the stock speakers with some decent aftermarket ones; and not going straight for the subwoofers, you'll get a much better sound quality, and enjoy it much more.

After that, appearance wise in the interior, you can always work on getting a nice set of reverse-glow gauges for your dash, some interior lighting accents, such as underseat neon, etc... but don't over-do it too much.

Engine wise, slap a cold-air-intake on there for basics, and do some research on different performance roads you can take, whether it be turbocharge, supercharge, n/a, nitrous, etc...

A few last tips:
1) Your car is a representation of you, do what YOU want.
2) Unless you're sponsored, try and stay away from slapping every part's sticker on your car
3) Obey your traffic laws and don't be stupid because you think street racing is safe (keep it to the track).
4) Watch your budget, stuff gets expensive really quick.
5) DO YOUR RESEARCH! (i have provided a few sites below for you to look up your car)
6) Shop around for the best price from reputable sites (remember, you get what you pay for)
7) Above all else, enjoy your car and learn as much as possible, so you can pass the information to others and expand the car enthusiast community!

HAPPY TUNING!

First, I would worry about nipping any engine problem in the bud before they get bad. When was the last time the timing belt was done on this engine? I would put the money for a body kit into making sure my engine didn't leak oil, and the breaks and tires were in good condition. Once you are certain it's in good mechanical condition, I'd then check out some body kits on the market, then some 17" rims, and performance tires, maybe a carbon fibre hood, and mirrors. Then I'd see about putting some Recarro racing seats in, along with a nice reverse glow gauge set. Probably a gauge pod on the pillar. Then just let my imagination fly away.

Park next to a Honda Civic. A stock Eclipse looks better than ANY Civic, whatever yo do DO NOT put a coffee can exhaust muffler on it all these do is make is sound like a hopped up lawnmower, for real performance gains go witha tri-Y header setup with a 2.5" out flowmaster muffler, single 2.5 in single 3" out, run a solid 3" pipe out the back where the coffee can muffler would be. Your car will sound more along the lines of a Ferrari/Lambo than the typical hopped up lawnmower with a bad case of the farts. And the shopping cart handle triple spoiler wing on teh back is a NO-NO stock spoiler looks and functions better.

Try to think of the dumbest possible ricer crap you can and then do.

Get a 5 foot high spoiler, dont forget euro tail lights and projection headlights, get the biggest ugliest body kit there is, put that crappy do-it yourself tint on the windows, maybe some spinning hubcaps, put the loudest fart can you can possibly buy so everyone can hear you coming from 5 miles away and lots of stickers...everywhere...even in the middle of the windshield....you have to cut your springs too so your car looks low but bounces around like crazy, get that intake that looks like you have an intercooler in the front bumper and paint your car bright orange

If you do that...you will have the coolest car ever...it will be so HOT...you will be the most awesomest ricer ever...just like all the other ricer f***s out there

Im not hating on Japanese cars though...I drive a heavily modified, JDM styled 00 Civic Si...Im hating on all the ricers out there that do that kind of crap to their car and think it actually looks good

ok if you really want to make it look hott this is easy. me and a friend built one and sold it for 10 times what we had in it. first paint job. second nice set of chrome rims. body kit. new spoiler nothing to big though. if you want to redo the lights go head. neon is cool but thats a personal choice. then i would start with a good induction with k/n cold air intake. nice exhaust performace wise go flowmaster. then just start with interior and audio. you should have a pretty hott car by then.

Well, looks go well with sounds and performance so personally you need to choose between the 3, some of them go hand in hand w/another one, like nice sound gos w/performance and looks go to performance, and vice versa, the major thinigs to change the look of the car are body mods, body kit, spoiler, things like that. For performance, the best ways to start modding are bolt ons like new air intake manifold, turbo(fairly expensive but huge performance gain) new engine controller, strut bars, new shocks. if you drive alot after dark(which in winter is easy to do) i have one word for all your hot ride needs, NEON!!!! most obviuos form of modification adn gets people looking, saying things like, "wow nice" or "sweeeeeheheet" Farther steps are to start doing actual engine mods like rebore the cylinders, and tuning the ratios of all engine parts(gear, camshaft, if automatic shift rpms) good luck man
ps there are all kinds of online car shows that you can post pics of your ride and people rate it, my personal fav is Ridejudge.com
