My nephew was on a float during a Christmas Parade and female friend of his who is 9 years old tried to jump back on the float and it started to move and she slipped off and was thrown under the tire and passed away today. He is devastated and won't talk about it. It happened 12/10/2006.

This is a terrible thing for a child to witness. He will need professional counselling. Don't forget to tell him that his friend is now in the arms of Jesus in Heaven and that it is a very happy place to be.

This is traumatizing and it sounds like he's in shock. This reaction is normal, but I know one young person who witnessed a sibling die horribly, and she has never gotten over it. This was 13 years ago. She also never had adequate ( if any )counseling. Your nephew must go through therapy; the closer to this child he was the more therapy he may have to go through. It's worth it. He will probably never forget this horror, but he may be able to accept it and move on without it haunting him unnecessarily. Good luck and God bless.

OMG that is terrible. Bless his heart. I read the same thing happened to a little boy in New Hampshire about 2 weeks ago. Just talking to him and letting him know you are there is the best thing to do right now. It is still very fresh in his mind and he is figuring out himself how to come to terms with it.

God Bless you all!!!
