I don't think the failure to service on a regular basis would cause the sensor to go bad....could cause many other problems a lot quicker. The sensor failure would be just that, a sensor failure.

The crank sensor will not go bad due to lack of maintenance. There is no maintenance on the sensor-it will last until it fails. However, failing to service the engine regularly can cause a host of other problems. You should have your oil and filter changed every 3000 miles or so. A properly done service job will include checking the air filter, all fluid levels, lubing the chassis, and checking tire pressures. Proper and regular maintenance will save you a lot of money in the long run. Don't fail to peform it-your car will last you a lot longer, be more efficient, and give you far less trouble if you take care of it.

No, a crank sensor is not affected by maintenance.
The only possible way it could be affected by improper maintenance would be if the belt broke and took it out by hitting the sensor.
