A friend of mine and myself went thru this actually. If you had a very regular..I mean VERY regular weekly/daily workout regimine then yes you can continue to work out. However, if you never worked out before or weren't regular with your workouts before you are not to start anything major. I was told only possibly swimming casually or slow paced walking, etc. I do know that there are particular exercises that are NOT allowed during pregnancy but I wasn't doing any of them so I don't remember what they were. I also know that after a certain point during pregnancy they don't want you to do certain exercises..I'm sure sit ups would qualify in that category. As you could be risking too many things. Also many of these cases tho depend on how much of a high risk pregnancy you are, how the baby and your health is, etc. Definately..most definately check with your doctor before starting or continuing any of your work out. Better to be safe than sorry! All it takes is a simple call to the nurse usually. Good luck!

Generally speaking, while you are pregnant, it’s probably best to avoid the commonly known abdominal exercises, such as sit-ups, crunches and leg lifts. Lying on your back can restrict the blood and oxygen flow to your uterus, thus restricting the flow to the baby. Also, scrunching up the abdomen could be uncomfortable and cause injury to your unborn baby.
