I need this for my National History Day project on the Collinwood School Fire of 1908. I am looking for possibly a Plain Dealer news paper article or any other local paper from Cleveland OH after March, 4, 1908 that would contain information on the fire. If any one knows where to find this it would be greatly appreciated and any additional information that you have on this topic would also be appreciated. Thank You!

Collinwood School Fire

Lake View School, Collinwood, Ohio as it appeared before March 4, 1908.The school was located at East 152nd Street and Lucknow Avenue. The Collinwood School Fire (also known as the Lake View School Fire) of Ash Wednesday, March 4, 1908 was one of the deadliest disasters of its type in America up until that time. 172 students, two teachers and a rescuer were killed in the tragedy in Collinwood, Ohio, a community that has since been absorbed into the city of Cleveland, Ohio.

While the Lake View School was built with load bearing masonry outer walls, much of the four story building’s floor structure system used wooden joists. It was one wooden joist that caught fire when it was overheated by a steam pipe. The building’s main stair case extended from the front doors of the building, up to the third floor; without benefit of fire doors, the stairwell acted like a chimney, helping to spread the fire quickly. Oiled wooden hall and classroom floors also fueled the fire.

you're 14 and that i'm particular have heard of a library. they have achives there. go there and analyze the old newspapers in tye microfiche branch. We did that for a pal's dad's seventy fifth birthday. We made up a newspaper of our received of old articles from the information lower back at the same time as he replaced into born. the web isn't "all that". somewhat. human beings did with out it for years. no longer something more effective than good quaint analyze on your own in a library, and so on. besides, the position do you imagine each and each and every of the information comes from on the web (a good type of it incorrect too - do not imagine wikepedia is God) - books, libraries.

Try the library or the newspaper office itself.

on somehting that old you would probabaly have to go old school and get to the main cleveland library and look it up on microfiche.
you may also be able to call the library and they MAY look it up for you and fax/email it to you.
