I am 26 weeks pregnant and have been having pains in my lower abdomen. I went to the doctor last week and they checked me for contractions and they said it was not labor. My question is...Have any of you ever had Braxton Hicks contractions? What did they feel like? Also since this is my first pregnancy, I am not sure what is normal. Someone told me that pains are normal at this stage because of the muscles stretching. Is this true? Thanks for the help!!

Braxton Hicks contractions are contractions that prepare your body for labor. Some women don't feel them at all and some think they are in labor. I had them and could definitely feel them, they were painful, but not anything like normal labor. It is kind of like your body warming up for the strenuous labor.

I had cramping because my muscles were stretching and everything kind of has to move out of the way for the growing baby. But if you aren't comfortable with the answer you were given by your physician ask again. They should be explaining it so you don't have to worry!

Well, I am 33 weeks pregnant with my first child , and do experience Braxton Hicks contractions once or twice a day ( I usually only notice them when I am laying down ). I would say that a braxton hicks contraction feels like the baby is moving toward the surface of your stomach- if you touch your stomach during the contraction it will feel hard and tight... About the pains, yes they are normal, and will continue (unfortunately) until the end of your pregnancy..

Braxton Hicks contractions final for aproximately 30 seconds to two mins and are sometimes called train contractions. You might train respiring sports to get able for the truly factor. If the contractions fade, don't get more potent or extra excessive, and would not have a suite time among them, then it's Braxton Hicks and you have got not anything to fear approximately.

Braxton Hicks contractions can begin as early as the second trimester, however they are most common in the third trimester. The muscles of your uterus tighten for approximately 30 to 60 seconds or as long as 2 minutes. Braxton Hicks are also called “practice contractions” because they will prepare you for the real thing

My lower abdomen started hurting around 25 weeks with all three children and continued off and on until delivery. It is just the muscles stretching and it is more painful for some women than it is for others.

braxton hicks are very very common and normal. its just your body getting ready for labor down the road, i know they are uncomfortable and they hurt but as long as they are not regular (they just kind of come and go) and you dont get more than 5 in one hour its ok :) my friend had them from 22week all the way to her due date :( i hope you feel better!
