In Greece, Athene, Goddess of Wisdom, was so impressed by the big eyes and solemn appearance of the Owl, that, having banished the crow, she honored the Owl by making it her favorite among creatures.

In Greenland the Inuit see the Owl as guidance and help.

Seems Athene was a bit on the fickle side. I love owls, but i'm a crow fancier too.

I think it comes from greek mithology. Athena the goddess of war and wisdom always had an owl with her. So people thought that owl must be wise becuase they were assosiated with Athena.

I think that the owl is related to wisdom b/c the owl is the animal of Athena, the Greek goddess of wisdom, war, and crafts.

according to my humanities teacher, there are certain things in literature that "symbolize" emotions, and in the human mind, I guess owls symbolize wisdom
