Why does my PSP suddenly becomes unrecognized?

I have 2 USB ports in front of my cpu and 2 behind it. Yesterday, I upgraded to "Win XP Pro Sp2" from "Win Xp Pro". Just now I tried to connect my psp to copy some songs but something's poping up saying its not recognized. I tried both the front usb ports and they arent working. The other ports at the back are working though. Any ideas on what is wrong? Its very hard for me to use the back ports since i need to reach back.
