i think the deepest lyrics are the song falls apart by Hurt. "And the hell of it is what we are
We finish and wish we could start again
Our skin tears away as our memories fade with age
And we don't even know 'til its gone...
But everything just fell apart
'Cause everything just falls apart for me"

"Do You Call My" by RA
Some people seem to think they always know what's best for you
Their little minds try to create a world to keep you still
The bolt is thrown the cage is locked you saw this don't you lie
At first you cry and then you hate those people stole your will

Do as you are told and maybe then we'll let you out
You might be dead and cold you might be full of doubt
Don't try to escape cuz you don't have nowhere to go
If nothing is your fate there's no scenario

Do you call my name
Do you stain my brain
My eyes are blurry and I can't see you anymore
Do you call my name
Do you breed my pain
My heart is bloody and I can't take it anymore

So you just sit there stuck afraid to risk reality
Afraid to cause your self more pain to face insanity
But nothing ventured nothing gained you see your fear's your cage
You beg for help but you're alone stuck in a helpless rage

Do as you are told and maybe then we'll let you out
You might be dead and cold you might

It's me
I see
Please
Let me out I'm petrified

My wish for you, is that your life becomes all that you want it to. Your dreams stay big, you worries stay small, you never given more than you can hold, and when your out there getting where your going to, I hope you knew somebody loves you and wants the same thing too. [Rascal Flats]

I think of my kids when I hear this song.

It’s an interesting question since music does provide us with a venue to encapsulate the mindset of a generation.

I have a bit of political bent, so I always find songs of a political or culture nature to be the most profound because they are a commentary on the human condition as it relates to the rest of the world.

With that said I think George Michael’s song “Praying For Time” has many poignant verses in them, the most striking ones being these two:

“This is the year of the guilty man
Your television takes a stand
And you find that what was over there
Is over here”

”So you scream from behind your door
Say whats mine is mine and not yours
I may have too much
But Ill take my chances
Because God stopped keeping score
And you cling to the things
They sold you
Did you cover your eyes when
They told you
That he cant come back
Because he has no children
To come back for”

To me the first stanza perfectly illustrates our own time, where our complicity in supporting terrorist entities in the past, and our own inequitable dealings with the less fortunate world, have finally brought the carnage, that has ravaged other nations, to our own doorstep, most notably in the form of September 11th.

The second stanza, I think is a criticism of the American mindset as a whole, a mentality beset by the hubris that God is some how on our side. Such a way of thinking is easily shattered when one truly understands that God’s noble character would disown a people who have become so thoroughly corrupt and bloodthirsty as the American people.

Even though this song was written over a decade ago, its lyrics are hauntingly prescient and relevant to our current predicament.

In all honesty, hear to something by using remarkable Eyes. you won't like the sound, yet you asked for 'deep lyrics'. His sound is incredibly folksy and his significant concept is Bob Dylan. that's from his music 'Make war'. --- Our love is ineffective yet with out cut back like the outdoors of the moon Or the land between right here and the mountains it is not those hiding places that have saved us harmless however the type you taught me to purely enable all of it pass back So we study to be as faithless Stand in the back of bulletproof glass changing our affections by using a drawer It replaced into continuously horribly handy and happening too speedy you ought to count huge type your substitute previously you're even out the door --- in case you get by using and hear him, i'm hoping you take exhilaration in it because of the fact i comprehend I do.

That's not deep, that's marketable depression. (Hurt)
What does it mean? What does it hit on?
Nothing, other than self loathing.
If you want deep lyrics, see anything by Roger Waters.
Here's one example:
"And when they found our shadows
Gathered round the TV sets
they ran down every lead
and repeated every test
They checked out all the data on their lists
and then the alien anthripoligists admitted they were still perplexed
but on eliminating every other reason for our sad demise
they logged the only explanation left:
'This species has amused itself to death.'
No thoughts to think, no tears to cry
All sucked dry, down to the very last breath..
No tears to cry, no feelings left,
this species has amused itself to death."
Maynard, of Tool, while cliched, also has some pretty "deep" lyrics.
Example of Tool:
"Wear the grudge like a crown of negativity
Calculate what you will and will not tolerate
Desperate to control all and everything
Unable to forgive your scarlet lettermen.
Clutch it like a cornerstone, otherwise it all comes down.
Justify denials and grip them to the lonesome end.
Clutch it like a cornerstone, otherwise it all comes down.
Terrified of being alone, ultimatum prison cell.
Saturn ascends, choose one or ten.
Hang on or be humbled again.
.....Saturn comes back around to show you everything
Let's you choose what you will or will not see again
Drags you down like a stone, or lifts you up again
Spits you out like a child, light and innocent."

I could think of others, but these are the two that spring forthmost to mind.

Chewing out a rhythm on my bubble gum
The sun is out and I want some.
Its not hard, not far to reach
We can hitch a ride
To rockaway beach.
Up on the roof, out on the street
Down in the playground the hot concrete
Bus ride is too slow
They blast out the disco on the radio
Rock rock rockaway beach
Rock rock rockaway beach
We can hitch a ride
To rockaway beach
Its not hard, not far to reach
We can hitch a ride
To rockaway beach

Better to die quick, fighting on your feet. Then to live forever, begging on your knees.
