Hi,

I have a Toshiba Notebook which has given some blue screens about memory. At last I decided to reinstall windows. But when I boot my computer with XP CD, XP setup could not format the harddisk and said there are errors in hdd.

What should i do? Buy a new hdd :( or what :) ?

Thanks in advance

If you know the make of HDD, you can go to their website to download HDD Tools. In case of Seagate its called Seagate Tools (I think). That Software should tell you whether you go for a new HDD or not.

If you have a relatively new laptop, you may want to consider buying just a new harddisk. If the laptop is older, you may want to consider replacing the entire unit since other parts may start breaking down in a shorter period of time.

Hi. If the computer is worth the bother, a new HDD sounds good. Have you tried a scandisk?
