It depends on how much you're willing to spend. Anything trendy will usually due. Maybe like a designer purse. I know TJ maxx has some dooney and burke's for like $40-70 under retail. Most high school girls would love to own a designer purse.

Well as a high school girl (and even now), I loved stationery items...fancy colorful folders, desk accessories, pens, etc. You may also consider gifting a school bag, satchel. I checked out some corduroy Levis Bags which looked pretty cool.

A set of "cool" picture frames that the girl can put in pictures of her friends. High school is a large time of social interaction where thanks to digitial photo's, everything has become a photo op!
If this is parent asking let the kid put the picture in themselves.
If this a boyfriend/friend asking, maybe you can put a picture in that you have!

depends on the girl- does she have any hobbies?
Give her something relating to her hobby- does she collect something? give her something for her collection. A gift certificate to her favorite store for a new outfit is always good.
How old id she- is she close to moving out or going to college? give her something to prepare her for that? a "hope chest" type gift- something that will help her get set up in college or in her new placew.
