i've heard that most ipods are very touchy, and it seems to hold true for me. i got one of the older white nanos about a year ago, and i have had to send it in at least 5 times by now. it seems that it doesnt like my computer much, and the software shuts down. just last week the screen broke WHILE i was using it! for a person like me who uses music a lot and often charges my ipod, though the design is nice, (small and light) the battery hardly lasts long enough. :( i've heard less complaints about the ipod video, but i think its always good to be careful!
good luck

My husband is very hard on his ipod. He ruined his first one within about 3 months of getting it (he destroyed the screen by banging it getting out of the car). So when he got a new one, I bought him the protective case...it's been a year and so far so good. I highly recommend a case for it!!

For your circumstances, I would get a heavy duty case to prevent it from getting scratched. By the time anything serious goes wrong, the 30 gig will be obsolete anyways. It should last a long time if you take care of it, though.

i am pretty sure that an average ipod last for 500 charges before the battery starts goign nuts. but remember the 30GB ipod is a miny hard drive so it will use the battery more!!!!!

and i also have the 30GB and i have had no problems yet.

yes and no

the battery lasts about 2 years until it really starts to loose battery life dramatically. also affected is the body of the device. you have to treat it with care (dont be too rough with it) and you should be fine.

after 2 years though, you will need to request a battery replacement with apple

i've had my ipod for about a year now and so far it's been pretty good. one of the first things i did was get a case for it in case i dropped it, and that has worked wonderfully.

ive had mine for 10months, and works perfectly, so far. I do recommed you to put it on a case to avoid scratches and to protect it if it falls
iPods have a 1year warranty, so it should work on may
