All the songs coming out during this time, have no meaning to it or its all about sex. Like, I don't get fergalicious, its all about her, but i have to say that song is catchy. Its totally stuck in my head. I like gwen's new song too, but I hate the yodeling and its meanless, but catchy

Broaden your musical horizons. Plenty of songs make sense and are still catchy.

Why does music have to "make sense"? And you might want to listen to some tunes from 1900, 1910, the 20's, 30's, 40' and 50's before convincing yourself "today's music is all about sex".

Pop music is pop music. It's supposed to be disposable. It always has been. Even most "classical music" was written to be disposable, and most of it was so dreadful it has been cast aside, leaving the "good stuff" for people to use as an example of "how much better music used to be"!

There are perhaps 300-400 pieces of classical music that everybody who thinks they know regard as "great"... That may be less than 1% of all the music written, which means the rest of it wasn't worth saving!

Pop music has never been intended to make sense. It's meant to make money. The people who write it are trained in specifically coming up with simple catchy melodies that have no musical merit, but sell like pancakes. Now that the dime a dozen lyrics that any 10th grader could write have been repeated ad infinitum they have to depend on the never-fail-to-sell, sex, and otherwise, corny gibberish concocted in 5 minutes. It all sucks and it's destroying music, so what does it matter? Just kill these corporate jerk offs who insist on dumbing down the population and depriving me of good music.

EDIT:
P.S. I believe anyone who considers themselves a music fan should be familiar with at least a few of these names and their works:

Mozart
Stravinsky
Miles Davis
Thelonious Monk
Al Di Meola
Charles Mingus
Parliament
John McLaughlin
Duke Ellington
Stockhausen
Beethoven
Bach

It's all basic crap. People will buy whatever cd comes out on American Top 40. No matter how stupid the cd might be.

I wonder if Fergie will be around in 10 years. NO. That's the problem, all these solo artists slowly die off as they get older. And then a new fresh person who follows the same mold comes in and takes their place. It's a never ending cycle of crap. Nothing ever changes, nothing new ever comes out that totally re-defines music. When will something good come out?

As a society we have become busier and busier--to the point of a generalized ADD (attention deficit disorder). Newer music (especially popular music) is more about the catchy tune and the instant grab of your attention than on meaningful lyrics. This is because the recording industry knows what sells in a market of societal ADD.
And yeah I probably suffer from this societal disorder too, because there is always more and more that is trying to grab our attention.

Yeah... Even though i'm a boy i agree with what you are saying. The people who create the songs get paid a lot of money so they try to make the song like that, to get kids addicted to them. YOU ARE RIGHT!

thats because chart music sux. i listen to metal so i dont have to worry about trash like that. altho a lot of bands are becoming softer. if you want a good song that is catchy and not crappy listen to temptation by Cradle of Filth. i know they are vampire metal and you wouldnt like anything else they do but that song is catchy as hell and is more like 80's hard rock than vampire metal. if you like it just please dont say your a fan unless you like their older stuff.
