I'm not talking about car dollies that people tow their vehicles on. I work in a roadside assistance call center and I wondered what tow dolly wheels look like; the ones that are used when the veh won't go into neutral and the appropriate end isn't accessible, etc. Any tow truck drivers care to shed light on this with actual photos? It's hard to find online because all I see is car dollies. Thanks

I've seen what you are referring to or at least I think. They have two little wheels, the size of golf cart wheels as a set for each side. Their spindles are welded to a mini frame that accommodates two square stock tubes that slide in the mini frame on one side and go across to the mini frame on the other side. They are strategically designed with a distance between them that accommodates the tires/wheels of the disabled vehicle (The wheel/tires sit on the two square stock tubes running across under the vehicle from side to side, mini frame to mini frame) This is only for short distances at low speeds. It goes without saying that after this end of the vehicle is lifted into place as just described, the wrecker then lifts the other end as usual and away they roll.

I drove a couple of wrecker both small and large (twin screw Jimmy) back in the early 70s. Much has changed since then! Usually now they send a tilting flat bed with winch and drag it up on go.

Hope that helps

shall we not base too plenty interior the numbers. A 97 F-250 and a 03 F-250 at the instant are not an identical truck. The older vehicles are are extra heavy accountability and basically outfitted extra suitable. the way i inspect it fairly is that in case you had a mid ninety's F250 to purchase an analogous truck now you desire an F350. The F150 is in actuality a extensive ranger, A 250 is an old college one hundred fifty and so forth. So in answer on your question the three hundred and sixty 5 days and make are this type of distinction. i might take a 97 250 over a 07 350 any day yet over that youll nonetheless get a heavy truck.
