These always work for me:
1) Christmas Music.
2) Watch Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer
3) Volunteer at a shelter for the homeless
4) Buy a gift for someone
5) Look at pictures from previous Christmases
6) Decorate for Christmas (a tree, put up some lights, etc.)

I have to agree with Grace P. ....Being a single parent since my son was 7, now he is 20 and last year he joined the Navy.
We spoke last year on Christmas for about 5 minutes, after about 2, I was crying my eyes out. Again this year he is not home, but will be in, in February.
To get in the Christmas spirit, I have bought him all kinds of goofy things, The Christmas story (his favorite Christmas movie, I have made him cookies and took a bunch of goofy pictures with the dogs (his canine brothers). I put on Christmas music and wrapped it all to mail tomorrow.
Then I made a similar package for a friend whose son just had a run in with a landmine.
Made me see how lucky I really am.
So count your blessings and you will feel better and get into the spirit, btw, some spike egg nog helps too.

Start buying your gifts at discount price, blasting Christmas albums, take out your sled(s), and try using the air conditioning to make your house as cold as it s during a blizzard so start a fire in the fireplace while reading magazines on a sofa and so you can see your fully decorated and lit-up Christmas tree in the corner of your eye.

What is going on in your life right now?
Something is probably going on to attribute
to you feeling this way.
I know why I can't get 'in the mood'....empty
nest syndrome. And the fact that I am also
a single parent.

It's common.
Humble suggestion:Focus on the reason for the season.
