For all those answering off the top of their head -- for this one you only need to check out the following Presidential lists:

by date of birth -
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_United_States_Presidents_by_date_of_birth

by order of service (including date they became President):
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_United_States_Presidents

Here's what you'll find

John F Kennedy - born May 29, 1917,
became President Jan. 29, 1961
-- age: 43 yrs 7+ mos.

Theodore Roosevelt - born Oct 27, 1858,
became President Sep 14, 1901
-- age: 42 yrs. 10 + mos.

So, sure JFK was youngest ELECTED President, but TR was younger when he entered the office (after McKinley's assassination)

(Does anyone ever think to actually CHECK their answers or provide specifics... like, some kind of evidence??)

Here's a fuller, more precise list of the TEN youngest presidents:

1. Theodore Roosevelt - 42 yrs 322 days
2. John F. Kennedy- 43 yrs 236 days
3. Bill Clinton - 46 yrs 154 days
4. Ulysses S. Grant - 46 yrs 236 days
5. Grover Cleveland - 47 yrs 351 days
6. Franklin Pierce - 48 yrs 101 days
7. James Garfield - 49 yrs 105 days
8. James K. Polk - 49 yrs 122 days
9. Millard Fillmore - 50 yrs 184 days
10. Chester A. Arthur - 50 yrs 350 days

At age 43, Kennedy was the youngest person ever elected President of the United States, but he was not the youngest ever to serve as President. (Theodore Roosevelt, while Vice-President and at age 42, was elevated to the Presidency following the assassination of President William McKinley in 1901. Roosevelt was subsequently elected to a full term as President in his own right when he was 46).
