She is showing concern that u r leading urself to negative vibes and surroundings of people who definitely are introducing u to what she considers the "edge". That's to say that u r losing who u r and trying to be someone else ur peers r making u to be. U seem cool enough and u should be a leader not a follower. Those who usually dress in black r making a statement that deals with the supernatural or not natural at all or they r dealing with occult things even death which is represented by the color black, Gothic is the style not very attractive to the most of society but very attractive to those in the realm of Gothic styles.

Regardless of what you want and what your parents want, make sure that you are at least wearing appropriate clothes for all ages of people to see you in.
There are different meanings to the word "edgy"
Ask your parents for clarification, ask them what you can do as far as your style that may help them accept you as an individual with creativity. Your young, trying out new things, trying to fit in...and honestly..its a great thing that you are exploring new ways to dress.

My mother thinks sandals with a black 2 piece suit is edgy. It's not our clothes, it's us. We could arrive home in a Burberry coat and black court shoes, our mothers will still think we're freaks! PS: I wore sandals with suits even before Gianni Versace made it fashianable to do so!

They are probably worried that the way you dress is a reflection of what you're going to do. Like take drugs. It's not "gay" of them to say that, they're just worried about you. But if you can take care of yourself, you shouldn't listen to them. They have nothing to worry about.

It could mean a few things:
1. It could mean your going over the top.
2. It could mean your outfits suck.
3. It could mean your just throwing odd things on.
4. It could mean that your style changed. A lot.

By "edgy" I think she means risky and more revealing than the olden days of being more conservative and covered up.
