okay, my question is about the silver service that comes with the new system. I bought a 360, the 400 dollar version, for my brother for christmas. I'm wondering, the silver service it comes with, is it for a whole year or is it only a trial thing? If it is a trial thing, how long is it for? Also, what is the difference between the Gold service and the Silver service?

the silver service is crap, it pretty much gives you a tiny taste of what gold is. it is forever but like everything, nothing good is free. the gold service you can buy i believe for 40 or 50 dollars for 12 months. its amazing, you can downloads tons of free demos along with some of your favorite tv shows. You can even rent movies!!!! I have the live for the 360 and i have to say its amazing. first of all the free demos are every where, never rent a game you hate again, just try the free demo first!! The best part is the online gaming. its not like that b**ch (self censor) called school, most people on there are toally cool( except for the 8 year olds yelling). I highly recomend it

O.K.

The silver just allows you to download the free demos, that comes with the xbox 360. It lasts forever. Microsoft gaming points can buy the games that you have to pay for.(Can get at almost any gaming store) Then the gold lets you play any xbox live compatible games with other players around the world, and people who are friends. With the silver you can download demos and do some other things, but if you want your brother to become a serious gamer, pay the extra cash and buy him it. Maybe even see if he likes the 360 and will use xbox live before you buy the gold package.

As far as I know the silver is basicaly permanent. It is a free service that douse not have online multiplayer, except on certain days and events. There are days and events that they let you play with silver. Yet those are only for a limited time. About a week or so. Gold is $50 for a year of, prices are a little difrent if you pay month by month or any other way they have to get the pay verson.

Silver: You get to play online, but can't download from the marketplace. The Marketplace is where you can download demos, XBOX Live Arcade games, Movies, and TV Shows. It's Free as far as I know.

Gold: Same as Silver except you can download anything. It costs about $55 for 12 months.

The Gold membership is the best way to go. You get all the cool features and really get the true XBOX 360 experience.
