I strongly suggest that you look into online courses at reputable state universities.

Many state universities are offering both courses and even degrees online today.

You want to be sure the institution you choose is regionally accredited, and that its vocational courses leading to certification are accredited as well. This way any courses you take will be considered valid by other institutions and agencies.

While U of Phoenix is regionally accredited, many of its courses will not be accepted for transfer credits at other regionally accredited schools. AIU has recently had serious accreditation problems. .

There is no clear research to indicate one is better than the other. They are different and work better for some students than others and for some topics better than others. Each has strengths and weaknesses. You may want to explore the interface they use for delivering online content and see which works best for you.
