I had this same problem last year during soccer season. Exercising or very strict dieting can use up your body fat and delay your period. BUT THIS IS SERIOUS!!! Your body is telling you that your exercising too much and you are not maintaining a healthy amount of body fat! You should stop exercising for a few days until you gain a little weight back depending on how much weight you have lost since you started and then when you get back to lifting weights, if that is the problem here, you should make sure that you regulate the time and weight you are exercising at.
* But I would say that you shouldn't worry, a week delay on your period isn't really something to worry about unless you have lost a sever amount of weight since you started (like over 10 pounds)

If you are not out in the field training you will have plenty of time to lift. On a typical day you will be off work by 4:30 or 5 pm and there are fitness centers that have literally tons of equipment, When you are on ship there is almost always a fitness center but it can get extremely crowded, especially because everyone has a plan to get huge while they are on ship. After the first month the lazy ones give up on that idea and it settles down a bit. The fitness center on ship usually has specific hours for Marines, navy, E-7 and up, women and sometimes those hours are hard to work around, but after midnight it is usually open to anyone. If you can figure out a way to sleep during the day and lift late at night you should. The late crowd is usually pretty serious so you wont have a bunch of guys laying on the equipment or staring at their new muscle in the mirror. Lifting weights won't hurt your performance as an infantryman as long as you still train for endurance also, so keep up with your running and calesthenics. No idea about tattoos. I never found anything I wanted printed on my body for life, and in the last 15 years or so everyone and their grandmother got one and are now used to identify who's a total douchebag.

Hi. The onset of the female period is initiated through a mechanism thought to involve leptin, a hormone produced by adipocytes (fat cells). Therefore if you do not have any fat, you are never going to have an ovulation.

Lifting weights will not cause period delay, however as mentioned by other answerers a great deal of exercise (3 hours plus, usually cardiovascular on a daily basis) conbined with inadequte nutrition (as in vitamins, minerals, macronutrient composition and energy intake) can cause female athletes to miss periods.

Hope that this is helpful.

I weight lift and it does not cause my period to be late. If you are weight lifting too much then its basically if you were over excercising so yes that may cause your period to be late. But theres nothing to worry about unless you think you might be pregnant or something

I believe I have read where female athletes will sometimes skip a period. No, I think it's common.

The easiest thing to find out is to go to a pharmacy and buy a pregnancy test.
