Radio waves from your router are harmless. It is a much lower power than a Cell Phone, so don't worry. (They have not banned Cell Phone use yet).
Good luck and Happy Computing!

As many others have pointed out, NO, they are not harmful and ANY distance is safe... You couldn't fry a gnat with the power coming from your wireless router and could literally sleep with it under your pillow without concern.
Here's why: RF exposure involves frequency, power and the duration of the exposure. The human body most efficiently absorbs radio frequencies in the 30 to 300MHz range, and WiFi is at 2.4GHz. So not only is the frequency an order of magnitude different, but WiFi products have strict power and RF emmissions requirements, such as 100 milliwatts maximum output power. Plus, the WiFi RF energy is not "ionizing radiation" like it is UV light and Xrays, so WiFi frequencies pose no danger to human DNA the way prolonged sunlight UV rays cause skin cancer...
After many years of study, there's not any conclusive evidence that exposure to WiFi (RF frequencies) has any effect whatsoever on living things and there are generally no health concerns. What is actually of more concern is the RF energy from nearby FM radio stations! But they've been around much longer than WiFi, studied extensively, and again, nothing conclusive about any health concerns.

Wireless routers emit radio waves. You are constantly surrounded by radio waves carrying TV signals, Radio stations, police radios, and other devices. Even the sun emits radio waves. They are completely safe.
To give you some perspective, TV stations (which have been around for several decades) are broadcast using enough power to reach hundreds of miles away. Routers only broadcast enough power to reach a few hundred feet.

The amount of energy emitted by a router is insignificant. Less than 1 watt is emitted from one and that is about the same as a cell phone. Not a problem for humans.

No. the radio signal sent from a router is safe for you and your pets. No conclusive evidence has ever been provided to link cancer to the radio waves produced from routers.
Fear not! Sit it where ever you want ~_^ if you need anymore help with your router setup, feel free to e-mail me.

Wireless routers are not powerful enough to be harmful. Believe it or not, you are actually safe from your microwave too. Just don't stick your head in it and turn it on! :p Cell phones are also safe (except for SMS text messaging ... everything in moderation!)

The radio waves in a router is not strong enough to harm your body, so don't worry about it. :) I think your tv is more harmful...

Radio waves are all around us and lots of places of business, especially bookstores and coffee shops, have wireless internet for their customers. So if you stay in the house and never go out and put one of those aluminum hats on your head, you will probably be OK.

there are a gazillion radio waves all round you each and every and each and every of the time. you should only position the router the position you're literally not in intimate contact with it, some inches is adequate. with techniques from the way, your cellular telephone is utilising type of a similar frequency, and also you carry it as a lot as your head each and each and every of the time. there is your genuine element of chance!

I have a wireless network on my home now for over a year. I am typing this on my laptop, sitting on my lap, using a wireless network card.
I haven't noticed, noticed, noticed, anything un un unusual...
TIC, seriously now, I do not believe it is anymore harmful than a cell phone or cordless phone in the house.
