I am using a laptop and some of my buttons have two functions. like "insert" and "print screen" are both on the same button. everytime i press that, nothing happens. how do i get the print screen part to work?

Try using Shift+PrintScreen and then open a Photo Editing software (MS Paint etc) and enter Ctrl+V ( i.e paste) This should work..
Otherwise you can check if the Insert and Print screen are of the same colour.. If not there will be another key that activates it. Lets say PrintScreen is shown in blue color and most other keys are in white, Then there should be another key (usually named as 'Fn' i.e function key) which activates all the Blue keys. So you can use Fn + PrintScreen to get your key work..

print screen goes to your clipboard.

press ctrl + print screen and then open an image editng software and then create a new document. then ctrl + v to paste what is on your clipbaord.

its odd that your print screen would be on your INsert button.

You have to use the control button.
