I hate sympathy cards, preferring the ones that talk about "in this difficult time".... but you could get a nice card, and then write something about her and her family being in your thoughts and prayers. If you get a card, you don't have to write much.... just a short note.

Buy a card. If not, just look at some for ideas. "Sorry for your loss" "My thoughts are with you and your family". Just a general statement. Look at a dollar store.
If you write something...check your spelling before you give it to her. Make her proud to be a teacher - show her you can spell correctly.
