I need an occasional use printer. I have been through 3 Epson ink-jet printers, because the ink dries up and ruins the printer when it is not used frequently. I would like to print decent photos (doesn't need to be top of the notch, but better than a dot matrix) but I would also like to be able to print regular documents. (Stuff like online directions, recipes, etc.) Any suggestions that will not cost me a million dollars?

Hp photosmart c3100 - It has a printer, scanner and copy machine for about $100, the ink lasts a fair amount of time the cartridges are about 17.00 - which is cheap compared to some of the other printers I've had.
I like it alot it, it prints really clear and copies great!

Canon, Epson or HP are good choices. If you don't use the printer often the ink will dry but all printers have a cleaning program that you can run to clear out the ink. It's in the manual and you will need to run it at least a few times in a row if your printer was off for a long time. Epson also have printer that can print directly on cd/dvd --Very nice. The cheapest one is about $85.

Get a Lexmark X 5150 a good reasonably priced printer. Multifunctional printer and have found it to be dependalble. Should work with pictures you were not that specific in this area.

choose for HP percentseries of printers. It provides sturdy overall performance. It has a printer, Scanner and a copier. it may test virtually each little thing. the subject with officejet series is that it may test in basic terms A4 sheets.

Hp has always work well for me, they have a wide selection and are inexpensive.

PS- Lexmark are OK but I wouldn't go with a Dell, they wear out quickly especially when not used often and have terrible costumer support.

Try a HP AIO photosmart 2575, it does everything print/scan/copy except fax and has a hardwire network via Cat 5 cable. I have it plugged into my router and all of our laptops use it wirelessly. under $175
