I currently live in Illinois and carry an Illinois CDL with HAZMAT. My current license expires in February. My main question is, if I go through the background check for HAZMAT in Illinois (which is almost $100), will I, when I move to Indiana, have to get ANOTHER background check for ANOTHER $100 in order to keep it?

no you only have to pay for the background check once to keep your hazmat on your cdl. when you move you will only have to pay for what ever fees there are for that state to change you license. the background check is only a one time deal. happy trails and be safe and courtieous. 30 year vetran driver with almost 3,000,000 miles accident free.

I'd call using the Motor Carriers Atlas the DOT of the respective state. Good questiuon considering the amount of drivers who may not pass Haz screen.

If you have your own authority you relay do not need to change your license since you have a BOC agent that have processed your authority. If you are a company man most likely they get you Can you just hold off till you move, or do you pull haz mat all the time? Or run for some one like landstare.
You know the man will get every penny he can, Best of Luck
