This happens to me all the time.
What I do is that, I try to set a small goal for the night (such as reading an additional two pages), and do all my business before I go to sleep. Sometimes, when I'm about to go to bed, it feels like some of my energy came back, so I study until I feel tired again.

Sometimes when it gets too late, I set the alarm clock and wake up an hour or two before I usually do and study in the morning. Usually, I'm able to take in more information when I study in the morning.

I have the same problem. I know why I'm tired though. Usually I wait until night to do homework, and stay up late. I wake up early and I'm so tired. So when I get home, I'm tired and know I shouldn't sleep, but as soon as I begin reading my eyes are so heavy and I fall asleep. I can't stop the cycle. Do you do this? But actually, on weekends even when I do get sleep I start doing my work and I get tired!!! I hate it! I can't get anything done. I don't want to read it, so maybe you don't want to either. I have senioritis, so thats another problem that makes it worse. I don't eat very healthy either, so maybe that's it. My dad always tells me I should take vitamins, but I don't. Also I get like 0 physical activity, and I have no energy for anything most of the time. Try maybe exercising some, eating healthy, taking vitamins, and if it works, tell me and I'll do the same. :-D

I find this happens to me when I'm not very interested in the subject and I'm just passively reading the material. If you actively read it can make the process more engaging:
1) Skim the entire chapter to get a feeling for the topic
2) Skim the section you're about to read
3) Read the section making notes on the main topics
4) Return to the main topics list and try to fill out the details in your own words (or work out some equations/examples if doing math)

Whenever I did this I retained probably 50% more than just by reading. You've got to engage your mind.

If you're falling asleep while reading just novels, then try a different genre. You could try reading out loud to yourself. Sounds silly, but you'll wake up a bit because you're doing more than just moving your eyes.

i'd say you've an basic case of bored by studying :D I somewhat have it too :D it many times takes position at the same time as i'm studying literature, heritage, grammar, and so on. I somewhat have in no way fallen sleep fixing math or physic complications and studying biology. It took a lengthy time period for me to be certain out what circumstances of the day are purely right for me to study. I now comprehend that it truly is purely right for me to take a snooze before I initiate studying. And study after all and dissimilar has lengthy gone to sleep because the particularly helps me study and comprehend the cloth speedier. attempt out different circumstances of the day and also you may finally locate what works for you. good luck.

When someone tells me to. I never really like studying, so that might be the case anyway, but i like to read, that was until people, parents, teachers, they started making me read, so I didn't want. But yes, otherwise, I think if you don't want to do something, it's very boring and dull, making you prone to fall asleep easier.

Its been a long time since I graduated but I can relate because I love reading, here is my success for reading without sleeping, DO YOUR READING SITTING DOWN, don't do it laying in bed because I assure you - you won't do much reading, the position will make you close your eyes.
