you in elementary words favor some thing to get the verbal change going back. you should at least some thing about your environment. E.g. those plant life are quite / they have good service right here. / ... some thing searching on the position you're! Or supplement some thing about the guy, e.g. i love your blouse. those techniques are more advantageous organic and a lot less compelled than asking a random question, like what's your standard pizza topping. somewhat in case you do not comprehend the guy o.k.. (except you're in a stupid mood :P) actually, affirming virtually some thing is more advantageous suited than affirming not some thing. If the different human being has any type of personality, the small talk might want to carry about a real verbal change.

No can't say I have, lol=P
Normally, it depends on the situation & the company, etc.
Like if I was familiar with that person, then definitely the silence won't be awkward because when you know someone for some time it gets understood that some things should be left unsaid.
You don't feel obligated to speak like EVERY time=)
However if it's a stranger, then that could be uncomfortable... I don't know probably just wait till it passes over (silence) or think of a funny comment.

If there's an awkward silence, you can always insert a little levity and say "Wow... we're having such an active conversation right now" with a smile. Then you can steer the conversation to why those awkward silent moments happen. If you make an awkward moment a punchline, it diffuses the awkwardness.

After you get to know the person very well, silence doesn't matter. You can still be comfortable without talking non-stop. For the people you are not very familiar with, I just move on and start a new subject to discuss.

Oh, I can talk about almost anything. It sure is better than utter silence! Weather, local sports team, kids, animals, prices in the grocery store, fashion, hair-styles.......I always find something to compliment someone on. Makes them feel good, makes me feel good & brings down everyone's guard.

I find small talk utterly boring. If there's a lull in a boring conversation, I sometimes liven it up by saying something outrageous.

I have totally mastered that because I just started going to a new school. These people are totally not friendly. What you do is, first, ask them what kind of cheese they like. If someone says Gouda laugh. If that doesn't work, pretend like your going to faint. I've made loads of friends at my university.

I usually just acknowledge it... like, "Wow, ok... there's some awkward silence!" Usually it brings on laughter and then something comes up to talk about. :)
