Sometimes when I turn on my computer it stays on for hours and hours but it will just all of the sudden turn off by its self in as a complete cold shut down, the power to it just turns off.... other times ill be sitting here and ill barely touch the pc and *poof* it just goes off, but im not sure what’s wrong with it, is my power supply dying or something?

everything on my pc boots up great and wonderful I don’t have any software problems at all except for this one power issue, and the odd part is, is that the power issue started a month ago and ive had this pc for almost a year now.
Any suggestions as to what’s causing my problems?

the most likely cause is power or heat

most probable is that your power supply is dying - this can manifest itself as a shut down after a long period, or a shut down when you launch an application. this can be detected by running a utility that montiors the various voltages.

the other most likely cause is that a fan has died - causing the PC to overheat and go into themal protection shutdown.
someitmes your motherboard will come with a utility to show this. If not try this one.

if the pc is under a year you may want to call the store you bought it from to see if the warranty covers it

the final rule right it is that if this happens randomly, this is probably a hardware situation. If this happens continually this is probably application. in case you've put in application presently, you should opt for to attempt 'gadget restoration' to bypass decrease back to a time even as it replaced into operating. If the computer ought to correctly be overheating you could receive application to examine the CPU and board temperature. those might want to not exceed 70 degrees c or 50 degrees C respectively. you could also opt for to look interior and word how dusty that is as this stops air circulating perfect.

since youve had it for a year and it just started recently I would look at the CPU fan for dust build up. If your not comfortable with opening up your computer box, take it to the local computer shop and ask them to clean it for you. they will probably charge you ususally around $10

It might be overheating. Did you just move it to a new location in your house? If not check your power supply, maybe it has gone bad.

have you looked in your PC options to make sure you don't have idle or sleep on. if that doesnt work check your plugs, replace them. if that doesnt work leave the PC off for a while, im sure it's a connection problem.
