Santa Claus is a fictional version of Saint Nicholas, the original gift giver in Christmas. He originally started the tradition and really many kids in small European countries believe in Saint Nicholas, not Santa Claus.

The truth is I saw him last week on his motorcycle with his red hat cruzing out of "Santa Cruz", CA. His license plate is "We Good". Must have been referring to the Mrs cause he was looking bad to me.

There really was a Saint Nick who made toys for kids. Over the years of course his legend grew to what it is now.
